Dan Burkhardt began his career at the Missouri Public Service Commission in Jefferson City in 1972. In 1978, he joined the Investment Banking department at Edward Jones where he specialized in financing small, regional utility companies throughout the United States.
To help provide early-stage financing for a variety of businesses, Burkhardt formed Community Investment Partners in 1989. In 1997, Mr. Burkhardt and two partners created Oakwood Medical Investors, a venture capital firm focusing on mid-stage medical and pharmaceutical investments. Mr. Burkhardt has served as a director of four publicly traded companies.
At the end of 2005, Mr. Burkhardt retired from Edward Jones to devote more time to Oakwood Medical and to the vineyard he owns in Marthasville, Missouri, Bethlehem Valley Vineyards.
In addition to his new position on the Danforth Center Board of Trustees, Mr. Burkhardt currently serves on the Board of Directors of KETC-TV, Channel 9 and on the board of the Missouri Research Corporation. From 1969 to 1978 Mr. Burkhardt served as Captain in the Missouri National Guard.
